Byzantine hagiography PDF Print E-mail
ImageByzantine hagiography thrived during the years of Byzantine Empire through mural, mosaic, micrography and portable icons. It is a harmonic co-existence and combination of the Hellenistic and Oriental tradition which blossomed under the influence of Christianity. The Golden years of hagiography were in Constantinople during King Justine’s reign in the throne of the Byzantine Empire; it’s an artistic language which depicts the dogmas of the Orthodox Church. It is manifested by shapes and colours representing portraits of Saints and narrations with multi-portrait combinations.-
